Meet Lucky Girl Akilah Releford Gould
Akilah is a woman who lives life on her own terms.
Born and raised in LA, she’s a Cali girl through and through. In 2017, she founded Mary Louise Cosmetics from her Howard University dorm room to bring California’s laid-back approach to skincare and empower women to redefine beauty on their own terms. The early success of Mary Louise presented Akilah with a choice: keep the business a side hustle or bet on herself, drop out and go all in. She chose the latter and hasn’t looked back since. Inspired by her work as creative director at Casa Locé winery in the Ojai Valley, she’s applying her intelligence and easy-going charm to Lucky Girl wine to encourage women to live life on their own terms because life’s too short to live for anyone else.
Lucky Girl is crafted at Casa Locé, where they embrace a philosophy of minimal intervention, letting the natural rhythm of the land guide our process. They practice sustainable agriculture, ensuring that they create expressive and authentic wines and contribute positively to our environment. This includes everything from managing water usage carefully to using all-natural practices that enhance biodiversity in their vineyards.
